  very windy and dusty

Favorite thing: Not my favorite thing, but no where else to fit it...it's not technically a warning or danger, just general advice

You?d think Delta Junction would be a lot more than it is. Maybe it was just wishful thinking, but they have easy access to Fairbanks and they are the end of the Alaska Highway, so great tourism opportunity. Also, with Fort Greely and the pipeline, economic opportunity. This is just in theory. It?s a dusty and windy place (frigid in the winter) with a smattering of a couple businesses and less than desirable accommodations. After the summer season, your options are even more limited. The visitor center that apparently issues a certificate for reaching the end of the highway is closed, the museum is closed and beyond that, the town doesn?t offer much. If you are traveling through during the off season, push the extra 90 some miles to Fairbanks. Prices for hotels will be better and you won?t feel like you have to sit in your motel room and eat peanut butter sandwiches for dinner. If you read about this town, you may find there is documentation about its ?economic boom??hmmmm. We didn?t see that but maybe it is hidden in a little corner of the area that we didn?t come across.
