"Modern art that actually looks good." Millennium Chalice Tip by worldkiwi

  The Millennium Chalice, Cathedral Square.

Fondest memory: I was very amused by the negative reaction many Cantabrians have towards the Millennium Chalice in Cathedral Square. This modern piece of sculpture is suitably celebratory in its style and to me is a great piece of modern art. Gee, it would look good oat the end of Princes Wharf in Auckland! The chalice offsets the Cathedral really nicely and does so without imposing grotesquely on the character of the square, being set off humbly to one side. I like the Millennium Chalice.

Address: Cathedral Square by day
