"Church of the savior of the spilled blood" Cathedrals and Churches Tip by MichaelFalk1969

Cathedrals and Churches, Saint Petersburg: 275 reviews and 565 photos

Probably the best-known and most-photographed orthodox church of St. Petersburg due to its scenic location beside a channel. The church is rather new - built from 1883 to 1907 - by the last Czar. The interior is gorgeous - a must-see.

It is common to charge "foreigner prices" in St. Petersburg churches and museums. So either you try to pass as a convincing Russian (if they ask you if you`re Russian, just say "da" (=yes) or you pay the much higher entrance fee. Personally, I think it is OK that the usually wealthy tourist pays a little more than the locals (though this is more obvious to me in Third World Countries).
