Trafalgar Square is a favourite place not only for tourists, but for political demonstrations and different celebrations. For example every year a giant Christmas tree can be found here. This is the annual gift from the people of Norway remembering Britain's helping their country in World War The Second.

On the northern side of the Square you can find National Gallery which is famous for housing one of the best collections in the world of Western European art including a number of Rembrandt, Rubens,, El Greco, Caravaggio, Gainsborough, and Turner paintings. Next to it you will find the National Portrait Gallery. Definitely it is worth going there (if like paintings of course.
