"A big tribute to a great man" Washington Monument Tip by spgood301
Washington Monument, Washington D.C.: 123 reviews and 229 photos
The Washington Monument is a tribute to George Washington, America's first president. You can go to the top for a unique view of Washington DC, or just look up at one of the capital's signature monuments. Tickets are free, though it costs $1.50 to reserve them ahead of time.
Though George Washington is called "the father of his country", like most colonists his country was originally Great Britian. In fact, he was in the British army during the French and Indian War. Also, like most colonists he eventually came around to the idea of American independance.
And he never met a cherry tree he didn't like ;-)
