"Louis XIV masterpiece" Versailles - Daytrip Tip by MichaelFalk1969

Versailles - Daytrip, Paris: 208 reviews and 393 photos

When Louis XIV died, the French peasants cursed him because of his ruthless taxation methods. He obviously had to spend much money in order to finance his many wars and to sustain his luxurious courtlife and building activities.

The Palace of Versaille and its gardens are the must-see if you are in Paris: Courtlife in the times of Louis XIV must have been glorious, and it is no wonder that many minor european rulers tried to imitate the architecture, style and cultural habits of France for decades. The most beautiful room is surely the well-known mirror cabinet.
