Sidon Things to Do: 65 reviews and 164 photos

The Sea Castle was built on a small island, just 80m from the shore, by the Crusaders in 1228. It is connected to the mainland by a stone footbridge.

Basically it consists of two towers, one circular and one square, connected by walls, and entered through an impressive gateway from the causeway.

It is believed that there was originally a Phoenecian temple here. Scattered, broken columns of pink granite litter the area, probably Roman, but possibly dating back to the Persian period of 525-332 BC.

It takes no more than 30 minutes to examine every nook and cranny of the castle. There are good views of the town and harbour from here.
