When first arriving to Osaka the city struck me as modern and very busy. The same pulse you find in Tokyo's Shibuya was also beating here. Until I found the quiet and relaxed Shi-tennoji. It was somehow reminding me of Nara. And I spent a fair time walking around here. I sat down near the pond with the turtles, must have been hundreds of them in there, and wrote in my journal.
(Admission free)

From the temple I walked about 15-20 minutes to Tennoji-koen. A magnificent park and also a zoo and botanical garden.
The sun was extremely warm for being early May. This was an excellent day away from the traffic and rushing people in the city centre.

Address: 18 Shi- tennoji(Temple). 108 Chausuyama-cho(Park)
Directions: Subway to Shi- tennoji-mae stop, south exit. The park is easily reached from the temple.
