"Sailor's Chapel" Montreal Things to Do Tip by DJMist
Montreal Things to Do: 1,055 reviews and 1,750 photos
The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secour, also known as the Sailor’s Chapel, is along what used to be the St. Lawrence waterway. It is said to be one of the oldest North American houses of worship, but it has burned at least once and been rebuilt. The stained glass is amazing and the chapel has a very spiritual mood. Upstairs is a museum dedicated to Margarite Bourgeoys and downstairs are some interesting archeological items which were found near the original foundation of the Chapel. The museum admission provides access to the original bell tower which is a great vantage point for photos.
Address: 400 St-Paul St. E
Directions: Near Old Port next to the Marché Bonsecours.
