Ceske Budejovice is the home of the original budweiser, Budvar. Which while often copied never surpassed. But there is more to this town than beer. It has a pretty town square (The widest in the Czech republic) which has a number of interesting building from the renaissance and baroque periods. there is a small old town with museums, restaurants and bars. my husband and I used czech budejovice as our base as it has good transport links with other towns as well as prague. And of couse while you are in town there is plenty of oppertunity to sample the local beer!

Directions: From prauge took about 2 1/2 hours by train
