"Predjama Castle" Slovenia Things to Do Tip by mikelisaanna
Slovenia Things to Do: 531 reviews and 843 photos
Predjama Castle is an unusual castle in that it is built into a large cave opening on a mountainside. As a result, it was able to withstand long sieges, since the occupants could exit through the cave to get supplies. The castle was built in the late 1500s. Its most infamous resident was Arazem Jamski, who was a sort of Slovenian Robin Hood.
The inside of the castle is rather plainly furnished, but the castle is still worth touring for its unusual construction and layout, and the views that you can get from the upper floors. You can also, for an extra fee, tour the cave. In August, the castle hosts a medieval-stlye tournament, complete with banquets and knights and other people in medieval costumes.
Directions: The Predjama castle is located about 9km beyond the Postojna Cave. From the cave you will see numerous signs marking the roads to the castle.

Hello Anna and Mike!
I just saw some of your photos and decided to write you. I see that you really travel a lot, which is wonderful. I have been several times in the U.S.A. until now also. Have you been in Serbia?
If you want, we can stay in touch.
Best regards from Belgrade,
Jasmina
