One of my favourite free things to do in London is to visit The Photographers' Gallery. Located close to Leicester Square, the gallery was established in 1971 and was the UK's first independent photographic gallery.

Over the years it has helped to increase the popularity of photography by opening it up to a wide audience - the general public - particularly by offering free admission. The exhibitions change every couple of months, so there is always something new to see.

Alex and I normally pop in for a look at the latest exhibition whenever we are in that part of town. We have seen several excellent series to date - one particularly interesting one was called "Stories from Russia", which included pictures containing passers-by who were asked if they would participate in the photos.
