"Floating restaurant and Mekong cruise" Vientiane Restaurant Tip by aemilys

Several boats run "dinner cruises" on the Mekong. I went on the one that is just after the big Lane Xang boat (anyone with mobility issues should do the Lane Xang because it looked like the easiest to board). Actually these boats are more like floating restaurants and you don't really cruise during dinner so get there early, eat and take pictures of the sunset and then you will be off for a very short cruise once it gets dark.

Now please forgive me because I don't know any nautical language but you should sit on the side of the boat that is to your right as you go up the Mekong - the Laos side and not the Thailand side if you want to see the shore lights on the cruise. However, for sunset photos the Thailand side is better.

Favorite Dish: Everything is inexpensive and the beer is cold. It might be nicer to go in a group so that you can try lots of things.
