......at each side of the doorway of Wawel Cathedral are these two charming carvings. They are, I suspect, part of the original Norman-style doorway, which would date them around the 11th century (when the cathedral was first built). One of the men has most definitely sorted out the fabled dragon, which legend says lived in a cave under Wawel Hill! There are several versions of the dragon legend, but I rather like the one in which the dragon was finally exploded from the inside after being tempted to eat a sheep's carcass stuffed with sulphur and salt. Rather messy though.....................
