La Tasca (Spanish Cuisine): "Tapas! A great way to sample!" La Tasca Tip by SassyCycler

La Tasca, Baltimore: 4 reviews and 3 photos

La Tasca is a local chain (I think 4 restaurants in the area including Virginia and Washington DC.) La Tasca serves tapas which are small servings. In Spain dinner is usually served between 9PM - 11PM, where tapas are usually served for free with drinks. Tapas can be combined to make a meal. The servings here at La Tasca are what Americans would call an appetizer size. This is great if you're not very hungry and only want a couple to stave off the growling tummy. If you're really hungry and looking for a meal, order 5 or 6 and share with others in your party.

The La Tasca at the Inner Harbor was VERY busy on the Saturday night we were there. Reservations are recommended. It's a popular place. There is outdoor or indoor seating. Sit at street level or upstairs on the second level and enjoy an unobstructed view of the harbor. The taste is great, but that night the kitchen was understaffed relative to the amount of patronage. Most of our food arived warm or close to cold (though the taste was great). One dish arrived hot and it was delicious. My boyfriend and I both said aloud, "If only the others were served that way!"

Tapas average $5.95 ea.

Favorite Dish: Dishes and beverages we tried:

Rebujita: Lemon, Limes and Sherry (Not very good, we sent it back. Just a bad combination of flavors.)
Sang-La Tasca: Apples, brandy, red wine, hint of cinnamon (Nice!)
Pan a la Catalana: 2 Large slices of toasted bread topped with garlic, tomato and cilantro. (A meal in itself. Excellent!)
Paella de Verduras: Vegetarian paella; garlic, onion, carrots, asparagus (Good)
Esparragos verdes a la plancha: Grilled fresh asparagus with extra virgin olive oil (Very Good)
Champiñones al ajillo: Mushrooms sautéed in garlic and olive oil (Delicious!)
Espinacas salteadas: Sautéed spinach with garlic, pine nuts and raisins (The best! Because it was served hot!)

... I didn't try the Salmon or chicken tapas but was told that they were really good, too.

Over all, the dishes have great flavor. The plating had something to be desired. However, even though some were not hot enough, you could still appreciate the taste. I would've given this a higher rating if the dishes had been hot. But I'd eat there again.
