Whitby Things to Do: 194 reviews and 370 photos
Whitby Abbey is located on the headland of whitby just above the town. It is one of the most visited places in whitby and is part of the english heritage. Whitby Abbey?s remains have associations as diverse as Victorian jewellery, whaling and Count Dracula. It has been an inspiration to many from the families that have owned it to the monks that built it, and even bram stoker for his famous book Dracula. There are guided tours around the abbey available aswell as various exhibitions to see. There are of course the standard shop, refreshment and toilet areas.
The abbey is open to be photographed and there are some stunning views available so make sure you bring your camera.
There is parking at the abbey at a charge.
One of the most memorable things for me at the abbey is the walk up from the town - up the famous 199 steps. However there is access for cars and buses.
