Harmony: "Vegan Cheesecake?...Sure..." Philadelphia Restaurant Tip by SassyCycler

Down in Chinatown is a non-descript, dumpy-looking (on the outside) restaurant. It could be any ol' Asian dive. But don't be fooled. This is a great vegetarian/vegan restaurant. Some of my carnivorous friends even like it. Although vegetarian, it is still catering to an American audience and sometimes the dishes can be very heavy. Lots of food is fried. Stay away from the "All You Can Eat Dim Sum", it was the most dissatisfying meal I've had in awhile. But the entrees are great as are the desserts.
They're open late.
Favorite Dish: Anything with vegetarian "ham" is good. The "chicken" items are good as well. "Pork" items are not as successful. Steamed dumplings were satisfying and not too gummy. Scallion pancakes are always hit in any restaurant. The highlights are defintely the vegan choccolate cheesecake. The chocolate was to die for, (stay away from the strawberry and the mango...kind of soggy). It's made from all organic ingredients (so we were told by our waiter). And try a $2 serving of the fried bananas, not to be mistaken for the Spanish dish. These bananas are flash fried in batter. Eat them hot. As they cool they kind of lose their bang. Be careful not to burn your tongue. These can also be hit or miss. One night they were done just right, and on a following night they were under fried or the oil they used was old and the things just weren't great like they had been. Over all, a good place to dine and prices are fair.
