Akakiko: "Japanese food on Favoritenstrasse" Akakiko Tip by SWFC_Fan
Akakiko, Vienna: 5 reviews and 8 photos
I ate at Akakiko Japanese Restaurant one evening during my visit to Vienna in January 2006.
This simple Japanese restaurant is located on the pedestrianised Favoritenstrasse, about 20 minutes walk south of Ringstrasse.
The decor is minimalist with simple tables and benches. The interior was brightly lit when I first entered, but during the course of my meal, the lighting was dimmed and candles were lit on each table.
The menu consists of a huge selection of sushi and tempura, as well as soups, spring rolls and a variety of chicken, beef, pork, seafood and vegetarian stir frys and curries. While this is predominantly a Japanese restaurant, some of the dishes originate from other parts of Asia such as China, Vietnam and Thailand.
The staff were friendly (and spoke English), the service was efficient, but the menu was in German only.
The front of the menu advertised the recent opening of another branch of Akakiko on Singerstrasse.
Favorite Dish: I opted for:
Cha Go - Cost: 3.90 Euros
Vietnamese spring rolls with shrimps, vegetables, beansprouts and a soya bean sauce.
Sesame Chicken - Cost: 8.80 Euros
A large plate of chicken pieces, covered in batter and sesame seeds and topped with Teriyaki sauce. Very tasty!! Served with white rice and salad.
330ml bottle of Sapporo beer - Cost: 2.40 Euros
Japanese Green Tea - Cost: 2.40 Euros
A large pot of tea (4 or 5 cups), but not very tasty. It was pretty much just boiled water with a sprinkling of green leaves....not enough to give it much taste!
Very good Japanese food....but not very centrally located.
