Brasserie Les Halles - Downtown, New York City: 6 reviews and 5 photos
No news here: tourist (including me) centrale:
Affordable steaks and other goodies from what was years ago A. Bourdain's crew.
France meets NYC.
(and you CAN make reservations).
Note: Reviews of this place are all over the road (Chowhounds seems to really hate it).
Some like it; but many complain about the service, especially at night for dinner. Others like it but say food & service are sometimes inconsistent.
My noisy meal was early afternoon lunch, and both food, wine & service were fine.
Hope if you go there you get treated right. For the price I think it's probably worth the risk if you're looking for a meal while walking in lower Manhattan.
Favorite Dish: Prix fixe Steak, Frites, and a salad. With a glass of red, maybe $30.
Hanger steak, frites and a salad are about $17.
Address: 15 John Street (between Broadway & Nassau)
Comparison: about average
Directions: 15 John Street (between Broadway & Nassau) just west of broadway downtown.
