"Loved by many" Zoo's Tip by hennanights

Zoo's, Adelaide: 38 reviews and 127 photos

George the orangutan was given to Adelaide zoo when he was 3 by the government of Sarawak. He was love by many for his playful nature and his sense of humour. His cage was very small and made of concrete with only a rubber tyre for company - it was a different time. Thankfully the are no more cages like this anymore. In front of George's cage there was a playground. I remember him fondly. One day while the keeper was cleaning his cage George took the hose and sprayed us all! When he wasn't swinging he would sit with his legs and arms crossed. It was very sad when he passed away it is wonderful that the zoo has monument to keep his memory alive.
