"Moderately priced hotel in Castle District" Burg Hotel Tip by flyplayne

Burg Hotel, Budapest: 298 reviews and 5 photos

Spent 3 days and 2 nights at Burg Hotel. 2nd floor room, no lift. Great views from opening double paned windows. Very quiet after 21:00. 91 Euros/night for 2, including buffet breakfast. Helpful staff, except for the general manager, who lectured me on how to use the the remote a/c control. In- room safe is an extra 2 Euros/day. Pillows are thin and don't plan on sleeping past 07:00, when the church bells start, again at 07:30 for late sleepers. Parts of Castle closed on Mondays. 20+ street vendors right outside. Try a "Chimney Cake", rolled in brown sugar. YUM ! Lots of art galleries in the area.

Unique Qualities: Ideal location for touring the Castle District. Across from Mathias Church and Fishermans Bastion. Outstanding views. Even watched a childrens folk dance performance from our window. ATM at the Hilton Hotel building, about 100 yds away. Spent 3 days touring and never left the Castle District. Easy access to the funicular and Chain Bridge. Ask hotel for directions to Sisi's restaurant for dinner[5 min. walk], and directions to 2nd floor self service cafeteria[another 5 min walk] in the opposite direction for lunch. In the Fortuna archway, 2nd door on left and upstairs. Only open from 11:30 until 14:30. No English menu, but some spoken. About 8 Euros for 2 for lunch. 6000 Forint fixed price cab ride to Budapest airport.
