Narikala fortress sits on top of Narikala hill. It's an old fortress, of which very little is left... a few walls and nothing more. Biult in the 4th century, its name was different: Shuris-tsikhe (Invidious Fort).

The present name was given to the fortress by the Mongols, when they invaded the city. Not impressed by its size they named it Narin Qala (Little Fortress).

Inside the fortress, on the lower courtyard, you can find the small the lower court you can find a small church dedicated to St Nicholas, while on the upper part of the fortress - after a short walk, you can reach the statue of Mother Georgia.

Directions: narikala hill, just above ortachala
