  • Tbilisi mosque - T'bilisi

Tbilisi mosque is, as far as I know, the only mosque in the city. It's built in red bricks and located in Ortachala, just up the hill from the sulphur baths.
To find it, look out for the octagonal minaret.

It was built in the 18th century, when the Ottomans ruled the city, and it was originally a Sunni Mosque. Today Sunni and Shi'a Muslims worship together. It's possible to visit it, but the interior is not particularly interesting. Dress modestly if you want to go in, and cover your hair if you are a woman.

Next to the mosque there's a tiny path: if you follow it, it'll lead you straight up to Narikala fortress

Directions: ortachala district - under narikala fortress
