State of South Australia General: 32 reviews and 70 photos

Favorite thing: Coastal lichen cloaks granite boulders in shades of gold and green. These tiny life forms have survived in some of the most inhospitable environments and they are believed to be centuries old. Lichen has an effect on the rocks by continuously expanding and contracting with their change in water volume. This causes fragments of granite to loosen and over time with the help of wind, sand and sea, unique shapes form.
