The Christchurch Treasure Hunt
Believe it or not the guys in Christchurch Cathedral dreamt up this idea to keep kids amused when touring the inside of the cathedral but it's great fun for everyone with an enquiring mind and a nosy disposition (like myself!). Ask the guy inside the door can you have the treasure hunt pamphlet whereon is depicted about 20 items to find in and around the building. I did it in the company of a nine year old - we found all 20 items (I found two, he found the other eighteen!). My own favourite was the dead cat and mouse on view in the crypt, found when renovating the great organ in the church, apparently one chased the other into the organ pipe and got stuck there! As you can deduce this hunt is a very moving religious experience!

Directions: Christchurch Cathedral at the end of Lord Edward Street and the beginning of High Street.
