The King George Sound is renown for whale sightings and whilst we were there on a August winter's day last weekend we were informed that there was a whale with a young calf in the sound and it had been there for several weeks. As you walk around the foreshore you will come across whale watching lookouts and signs giving details of the various whales that frequent the area. The next day we were lucky as we were driving along Marine Drive we saw a large crowd on a viewing platform, we stopped and saw the whale and calf approximately 600 metres offshore. For a closer and much better view you should take a whale watching cruise, Albany Whale Tours guarantee"see a whale or sail again FREE until you do", contact

This is the first time I have heard of a whale watching tour with a guarantee. Great idea!

The Whale Station was closed approx. 40 years ago, as a result the whale stocks have rebuilt. We live in a beach suburb in Perth, the whales visit each year and we have recently had 2 beach themselves on suburban beaches, over $100,000 to remove one whale from Scarborough beach a month ago.
