"Hotel" Charco Verde: "Quiet tropical retreat on Ometepe Island" Nicaragua Hotel Tip by BorderHopper

After being approached by a tout on the ferry ride from San Jorge, on the Nicaraguan mainland near Rivas, to the town of Moyagalpa we were told of a few accomodations on the island of Ometepe. Ometepe is a beautiful volcanic island in Lago de Nicaragua that should be a must see destination for anyone visiting the beautiful country of Nicaragua. After docking in the town of Moyagalpa on Isla de Ometepe our tout lead us to the bungalows at Charco Verde Nature Reserve. We were provided a two bed with bathroom, private bungalow that faced the black sand beached of a quite bay on Lago de Nicaragua. We had a beautiful view of the peaceful lake and could see the Nicaraguan mainland in the distance.

Unique Qualities: Only steps from the black sand beach. Adjacent to the Charco Verde Nature Reserve where we hiked along jungle trails to remote stretches of beach. Listen to the Howler monkyes in the nearby jungle. Walk to a hidden lagoon and swim in its warm waters. The rooms can sleep about 4 peaople, have a private bathroom, and a hammock on the porch. They also provide a free kayak for one hour. We loved this place! We were also provided entertainment by a topless Italian girls who took over the beach on our last day there. I'm not complaining but I hope your family doesn't mind.We also had a beautiful unobstructed view of the active Volcan Concepcion.
