It's incredible! It's unmissable! It's spellbinding! It's ho hum. Or at least that is what I thought of the Jantar Mantar. The Jantar Mantar is a total of eighteen instruments were erected between 1728 and 1734 by Jai Singh. What we see today is an array of brick curves, slants, circles and pillars. I really only found the place to be of mild interest. An fine hobby for Mr. Singh but a visit for me was not mindblowing. Okay I did not hire a guide to show me how this huge astonomical observatory is suppose to work but it just did not interest me all that much. Out of all the attractions in India this is the one that left me most disappointed.

Unique Suggestions: The highlight of the complex is the Samrat Yantra, which has a 27-metre-high centrepiece (gnomon), and can calculate the time to within two seconds. I suppose this is amazing but really watching it is a dull as watching paint dry.
