"The Often Overlooked Kota Region" India Favorite Tip by Paul2001

Favorite thing: The region around Kota in Southern Rajasthan that tourists tend to undeservedly overlook. Near Kota there are several interesting old temple complexes which are artistically comparable to the best in Rajasthan. The complex pictured here is the Baroli temple which is about 45 minutes by car from Kota. It is quite beautiful with great carvings yet I was the only tourist here. I fact I only saw one other Westerner in Kota. If you want to get off of the tourist circuit and visit a region with more than enough to see, then head down to Kota.
Fondest memory: Perhaps the most outstanding attraction around Kota is the sensational fortress in Bundi.
