Now, for a vast majority of people, the only time they have been to Rookwood Cemetery is (a) for a funeral or (b) to take the short cut between two suburbs.
Which is a shame, it's such a fertile area that, on the first Sunday of each month they have guided tours starting at 10.00am to explain just some of the riches that are enclosed within the fenceline.
One of the nicest times to peruse is in the spring. There's lots of wattle in bloom and several other flowers are just coming on as you can clearly see from these pictures. I've even managed to capture a bee for you in the second pic, getting himself full of pollen and nectar.
