KATA BEACH RESORT: "BEST RESORT ON PHUKET - ON THE BEACH!!!" Thailand Hotel Tip by Homanded

This was our favorite hotel in our month long stay of hotels in Asia.
Incredible room, great staff, wonderful food and true 5 star quality at a fraction of the cost.
We booked this hotel through Asiarooms.com in June 2005 for only USD $47.00/night with complimentary breakfast included.

Upon arrival at the PEPTO BISMOL PINK hotel we thought: "Oh God..What have we gotten ourselves into..." Our fears were quickly eliminated when we stepped through the gorgeous oversized lobby solid wood doors into an unbelievably huge lobby. You can look out from the lobby straight through giving the massive lobby an open air feeling.
The multi levels of the hotel go up endlessly and from each balcony hang plants and living orchids.
The staff was very efficient and automatically upgraded us for no extra charge when we inquired as we noted, they were slow. This pas post tsunami and I think they were trying to get the business in.

Unique Qualities: Our room consisted of a HUGE king sized bed with sild throw and complete with a Thai style sitting area next to a bay window overlooking the pool and ocean beyond.
Bathrooms were totally modern with 110V and 220V outlets making plugging in my camera gear and shaver easy as we'd had anywhere in Asia.

The breakfast buffet, considered to be the best on the island did not dissapoint. Every morning huge arrays of Western and Asian fare were available. A chef at it's own omelette station was always ready to cook up eggs to your desire.
Another huge section consisted of just fruits, yet another of cereals..yet another of juices, milk, yogurts, and still another of breads and rolls! The entire center of restaurant went on and on with food. I've only seen this much food at a buffet before and it was on a cruise ship.
Finally, coffee, tea, juice and mimosas were always flowing.

The other nice thing about this hotel is that you can book your tours directly either through the hotel lobby or right outside. We found the travel agent just outside the hotel's gates, to the right, 1 block across the street and next to the laundry mat to have the best pricing.
We arranged Phi Phi and James Bond Island/Floating Muslim village tours through her.
MAin buses run right outside the hotel gates making access to all of Phuket easy! The front desk will tell you which bus # you need to take for the different areas on the Island.

Finally, the tailor in the lobby of Kata Resort worked all night to make us 3 linen casual suits each and even got 2 fittings each to assure proper fit. He was amazing and we were extremely happy with his work.

Directions: On KATA BEACH - on it's own section of private beach which is nice because it's secluded and protected by an inlet making swiming safe and quite nice.
