"Cape Ann" Massachusetts Things to Do Tip by zChris

Massachusetts Things to Do: 204 reviews and 272 photos

If you're annoyed by the crowds and suburbanisation of Cape Cod, head to the state's other and lesser known cape, Cape Ann. Home to beaches with colder water but mopre spectacular scenery, and towns with less out-of-state tourists and more fishermen, Cape Ann is quintessential coastal New England at its finest. See Manchester-by-the-Sea, revered for its beautiful harbour and clapboard white town centre. Gloucester (pronounced Glou-sta) is a fairly large town which has been made famous by various fishing epics such as The Perfect Storm. Ipswich has interesting antiques shops and beautiful salt marshes. Rockport, at the Cape's tip, features a beautiful town centre and an almost picture-perfect harbour that's been captured by hundreds of artists on film and canvas.
