On the other side of the road from the Ilirija Column on French Revolution Square stands this monument to Simon Gregorcic (1844-1906) who was a poet and priest. He strongly influenced the development of Slovenian literature by writing love, patriotic and existential poems. Behind his monument stand a few busts of other prominent Slovenian figures.
