Take a walk down Newbury Street, Boston's centre for style and trends. All the deisgners have set up shop on this formerly residential street- Gucci, Armani, Versace...the list goes on. Cafes, bistros, record shops...it's all on Newbury. In recent years the parts of the street closest to the Public Garden have been somewhat overtaken by generic designer chain stores (there's even an 'Armani Cafe'), but much of the street remains quite interesting, including the portion pictured here near Massachusetts Avenue. At one time, the street seems to overflow with European students showing off their styles, but now locals have taken to the area as well. In fact, many girls I talk to claim they take the train to the city constantly to 'hang out on Newbury Street'. Although the street doesn't offer much of interest to me (shopping for expensive clothes and eating overpriced bagels isn't my thing), it's definately an experience that must be had while in Boston, if only to watch the stylish people pass or soak in the cafe scene and elegant atmosphere.
