The Depot: "Lunch in Albany" Oregon Restaurant Tip by Hopkid

Oregon Restaurants: 67 reviews and 47 photos

Following our "go to the Historic Downtown area" axiom, we came across this local seafood haven on the outskirts of downtown Albany. Housed in a former railroad depot building, The Depot serves up locally-produced seafood, most of it fried. The interior contains warm, dark-wood booths around the outside and a 40s-style counter in the center. The decor includes railroad and local movie memorabililia and model airplanes hang from the ceiling. Dishes are served with a smile by the friendly staff and the food is tasty! Definitely better than stopping at the usual fast food joints that congregate at the interstate exits.

Favorite Dish: Clam chowder (it is very good!)

Address: 822 Lyon Street South
Price Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: Take Exit 233 off of I-5 towards Albany. Turn right as Hwy 20 heads north thru downtown Albany. Go around the block by taking the next 3 lefts (first one on on 8th St and the last one on 9th St). Then take a left at Lyon St. The Depot will be on the left.
