Favorite thing: On our trip around Normandy we saw lots of half-timbered houses, but I was blown away by how many there were in Rouen. The city is home to around 2000 of these photo-worthy buildings. They have colourful posts and beams leaning this way and that.
There are some really beautiful examples in Place du Vieux Marche, some with colourful flowers in their sagging window boxes. I also saw a large number of half-timbered buildings in the area just across from Eglise St-Ouen, and some fabulous ones down narrow alleys near the Cathedral.
Fondest memory: Basically, they are everywhere. Take a walk, camera in hand, and let me know if you get any really good photos!
