Istra – New Jerusalem - Monastery walls
by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Favorite thing: In July, 1919 the monastery was abolished, and its property was nationalized. In November, 1921 within the precincts of a mansion the state art-historical regional museum was opened. When the war began, the small part of funds of a museum was evacuated, but the basic exposition remained and was lost on fire of war.

From November, 27th till December, 11th, 1941 New Jerusalem was occupied by fascists. On December, 10th, before deviation, they blew up all the main constructions of a monastery, and the territory was mined. Data about barbarous destruction by fascists of the monastery was included in the bill of particulars on the Nuremberg process.
