When the war began, the small part of funds of a museum was evacuated, but the basic exposition remained and was lost on fire of war.

From November, 27th till December, 11th, 1941 New Jerusalem was occupied by fascists. On December, 10th, before deviation, they blew up all the main constructions of a monastery, and the territory was mined.
