"The cheapest way from Narita Airport to Tokyo" From to the Airport Tip by suhadis

The cheapest way to get from Narita Airport to far side of Tokyo (e.g. Shinjuku) will cost you ¥1260. The nearest part of Tokyo from the airport costs ¥1100 (e.g. Akihabara) by this same suggested route. The passage is a little confusing at first because you have to make a transfer, between 2 railways owned by different companies. It's also good of you don't have much luggage with you as you will have to climb staircases with them. The journey takes about 1.5 hours which is on average. The faster and direct routes on fast trains/ express buses can cost twice or more of that.
There are 2 railway companies that you need to know - JR and Keisei. (and the Tokyo Metro is something else.)
The route goes:
At Narita Airport Terminals 1 / 2 - Buy a ticket to Funabashi (ON THE KEISEI line) this will cost you ¥720. Wait for the LIMITED EXPRESS trains (this one stops at lesser stations, so you will get there to Funabashi faster).
Then at Funabashi you have to EXIT the station, while keeping a lookout for the sign that shows directions to the JR station at Funabashi. Once you are out, walk to your right. Surely there will be many other Japanese making journey too to the other station. You will see the JR station across the road.
From JR Funabashi, you then buy the ticket that stops at your final destination in Tokyo. The example here illustrates Shinjuku (this is on the furthest side of Tokyo) which costs ¥540. Other places should cost lesser.
Once you are in Tokyo, the JR takes you faster around the city while the metro makes more smaller stops in between stations.
Funabashi is quite bustling so you can grab what you need here anyway.
If you are making the reverse trip from Tokyo to Narita Airport, take note!
There are 3 stations with Funabashi in it : HIGASHIFUNABASHI , FUNABASHI, and NISHIFUNABASHI. Remember that you need to alight at FUNABASHI and not the other 2.
