"The Royal Canopy" Top 5 Page for this destination India Gate Tip by keeweechic

India Gate, Delhi: 44 reviews and 85 photos

The sandstone canopy facing the India Gate used to hold a statue of King George V which was put there in 1936. The statue was removed and placed in Coronation Park probably because that was the site where George, who was proclaimed King Emperor of India in 1911. The canopy which was also designed by Lutyens now stands empty.
