"Workers Museum - Arbejdermuseet" Arbejdermuseet - Worker's Museum Tip by jo104

This musuem recreates the feel of the working class lifestyle during the 1930's to the 1950's
Start at the third floor & work your way down
On the second floor you step into the flat of the Sorensen family & experience 3 generations of Copenhageners from 1885 to 1990.
The displays showed that times were hard & many people slept in one room, there was an upturned table transformed into a bed. We read on the notes that if the daughter had her illegitimate child the baby would have to sleep in a drawer in the kitchen.

On the first floor there is a 1950's style cafetiria & you can taste chicory coffee from that era.
We passed on the coffee as we were melting already due to there being no airconditioning inside

It was a very educational experience & I really enjoyed the experience
Downstairs was an art exhibition

Adults DKK50, Children under 18 free, Pensioners / students DKK 40

The museum has a lift to all levels & wheelchair access facilities

Address: Romersgade 22, DK-1362, CPH
