the hotel de sens was built in the middle ages. it was once the home of cardinal de pelleve who died in a fit of rage when the protestant king henri IV entered paris. another infamous resident of this house was marguerite de valois the ex-wife of henri IV. she led a life of extreme debauchery and beheaded an ex-lover. the hotel de sens now houses the forney fine arts library. closed on sundays and mondays.
