"They Miss the rare Mount..." Uganda Off The Beaten Path Tip by Ngabo

Uganda Off The Beaten Path: 27 reviews and 38 photos

They Miss the rare Mount Gorillas. Found only in this area of the world.

The Gorilla is the largest living primate. It is the ape that is most closely related to man. Many people feel they are the most intelligent animal on earth other than humans.

Gorillas to known have an untamable ferocity. Their great strength, formidable appearance and aggressiveness has led to this conclusion. Actually, gorillas are no more savage than any other wild animal. They can be approached within several feet in the wild without any harm to tourists. Until recently each year thousands of tourists have gone on gorilla tours in the mountains of Rwanda. Threatened by man alone, adult males are only dangerously aggressive in defense of their breeding rights and family groups.

There are three races of gorillas: Western lowland gorilla, Eastern lowland gorilla and Mountain gorilla.

Gorillas inhabit the following countries in Africa: Cameroon, Gabon Zaire, Rwanda and Uganda.

Found: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Mgahinga National Park
