"Wong Tai Sin Temple" Wong Tai Sin Temple Tip by mamemo

Wong Tai Sin Temple, Hong Kong: 25 reviews and 58 photos

The Wong Tai Sin Temple in Kowloon is a very famous temple among the Hong Kongers, well-known for its "all-answer" gods (ling yan).

You can see many locals, with their offerings of food such as roast chicken, vegetables etc, neatly laid out on the floor, and fervently praying to the gods. This is a different practice as compared to Singapore, where offerings are laid on the altar tables instead.

The smoke is pretty overwhelming, even though the praying is limited to only outdoors. We bought joss-sticks from the street vendors outside the temple, only to find that the temple gives out free joss-sticks. As the joss-sticks come in a pack, we found that the number of sticks is more than the number of urns available...

There is a nicely kept garden behind the main temple, with lotus flowers, terrapins, fish, and a man-made waterfall.
