A couple of days prior to the festival we realised that we should really think about somewhere to stay. As we are saving all our "love of camping" for Ireland later this summer, I found us a couple of rooms at the YMCA (VERY lucky at such short notice and at festival time!!).

The lady on reception was very helpful and said that the hostel was only a short walk from Stoke park (the venue for Guilfest) and that she had two rooms available on the road side (which is a little noisy on a Saturday night but to be honest I was in no state to care! :)) We took about 25 minutes to find it after we left the festival on Saturday night and we had to ask a couple of people the way.

The hostel is friendly and modern, and has free internet access (1.5 hours - then don't come back to it for 3 hours) but we used it even after we had checked out and they didn't mind. They have 24 hour reception so it doesn't matter what time you come in. The rooms are clean, comfortable and and all have TEA MAKING FACILITIES *WHOOHOOOO!!* - this is so nice after staying in hotels in Europe where they just don't do this simple thing. With single rooms you share the bathroom with the person in the next room. Hey! It's fun to stay at the YMCA!! :))

Breakfast is included in the price (£37.15 per night for a single) and it's very good! Cereal, juice, yogurt and traditional English breakfast. (Just check that no-one has turned down the toaster dial or you may be feeding your toast into the industrial sized toaster several times before you realise what the problem is! There was a real mix of different types of people of all ages staying there from teenagers to retired couples. It seems to be a very popular place and rightly so!

It is possible to store your luggage there before checking in (before 3pm) and after checking out (no later than 10am).

Unique Qualities: It's fun to stay at the YMCA!!!!
