Rama's Fiji-Indian: "Good Indian in the Suburbs" Rama's Fiji-Indian Tip by bruce_esme
Rama's Fiji-Indian, Canberra: 3 reviews and 1 photos
Located in a small shopping centre in the southside suburb of Pearce, not far from Woden Town Centre. Ambience is not particularly Indian or Fijian - but it's neat, clean, warm-looking and the management and staff are very friendly and helpful. Service is excellent and you can bring your own drinks - corkage is very reasonable. No matter what night, the place is usually popular and I would suggest that booking is very advisable. Takeaway is also available.
Although it is called a Fiji/Indian, the menu is typically Indian. All the usual dishes are there - as well as some which may not be so well known. My partner and I have eaten there many times - either as a couple or with friends or as part of a larger group. We have never been disappointed with either the foiod or the service and atmosphere. In my humble opinion, the sauces(gravies) that accompany most of the dishes are lovely - even if the meats that are in the curry are only average quality.
The staff will advise you on the "heat" (chilli power!) ratings - our experience has been that Mild means very little chilli and that Medium is probably best except for those with the most robust of constitutions. Hot really is - only go for it if you are a committed chilli-head. In our view, the chilli taste at this level totally overwhelms the other flavours of the dish.
Prices are very reasonable - all in all the experience of having a meal here is very pleasant.
Favorite Dish: None will disappoint. We usually have something different every time we go.
