Liverpool Off The Beaten Path: 80 reviews and 92 photos

Visit Valle Crucis Abbey.
The ruins of this 13th century Cistercian abbey are lovely and they lie along the Eglwyseg stream in a narrow valley. There are sculptured memorial stones in what used to be the monks dormitory and there is an exhibition about the Cistercian monks and the abbey. Not far away is the town of Llangollen where the Eisteddfod is held, that town is also worth a visit.
Getting there by road: A5 and then the B5103
Train: Ruabon is 8 miles away
