"Getting Around" T'bilisi Transportation Tip by terrycowan

T'bilisi Transportation: 58 reviews and 104 photos

Tbilisi is strung out along the Mtkvari River, which can make for some long walks. But getting around is not a problem. The Metro is one option. Marshrutkas are everywhere and insanely cheap. I got around easily with taxis. They are everywhere, and at all hours. They are not metered, but this is not a problem. A drive across Tbilisi might run 5 or 6 lari. Either agree with the driver in advance, or be certain about what a ride should cost. Really, I ran into no problems with the drivers. They are not the mercenary bandits one finds in, say, the Sultanhament district of Istanbul. And a ride across Tbilisi with a Georgian taxi driver can be an exhilirating experience (see Travelogue on Georgian drivers).
