The Cezanne Exhibit at Musee Granet
by kucha

If you visit Provence between June and September 2006, you can see a great collection of more than 100 of his paintings at the Musee Grane in Aix-en-Provence for 10 euros per adult. Children are free. It is necessary to book the tickets in advance, as each one-hour session is fully booked in advance.

Normally the museum holds only about 8 of the artist's works, but has collected -- in honor of the 100th anniversary of his death -- paintings from museums around the world, in order to show the entire breadth of the artist's work.

If tickets cannot be obtained or the show date has passed, visitors can still enjoy a great Cezanne tour in and around Aix (seeing his birthplace, some of his favorite scenic views, the cafe where he liked to dine and finishing at the museum) by picking up the "Sur les Pas de Paul Cezanne" brochure at the Aix tourist office.

Directions: The tickets can be bought from outside France through the FNAC agency at 33-1-41-57-32-12 or in Aix en Provence at the Office of Tourism at 2, Place du General de Gaulle (local number below).
