This my favorite street of Montreal : a quiet, cobbled street with a lot of stone buildings. This is the oldest street of Montreal.
On the north side of the street, you will see some shop-houses with large windows dating from before 1850. The south side of the street has a lot of warehouse-shops, that is where harbour and town met: in the second half of 19th century, the traders welcomed the customers on the Rue St Paul in their shop with a attractive and representative facade and received the goods at the back of the buildings that was a warehouse on the Rue de la Commune. Now the street has a a lot of souvenir shops, restaurants, little shops, art galleries and hotels.
