Mosque of Mohammed Ali ? The Minbars
by Diana75

There are two minbars inside the Mosque of Mohammed Ali. The mindbar is the stepped pulpit where Friday prayer is spoken.

The larger one, beautifully decorated, is made of wood and it is said to be one of the largest in Egypt.

The smaller one is made of alabaster and is a gift from King Faruq, dating to 1939.

The simple mihrab is made of Egyptian marble.

The mihrab is the niche in the qibla wall of a mosque indicating the direction of Mecca.
